Our Pastor The Reverend Aldren Sadler Sr.

operations and represented the Authority at numerous community functions. During Sadler’s leadership, HARC awarded more than $1.3 million to local nonprofit agencies, while still growing the Authority’s assets by more than $1 million through investment returns. Additionally, the Authority aggressively pursued Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements owed for the final three years that the Authority owned Rockdale Medical Center. The Authority obtained $293,000 in reimbursements in 2018 and another $283,000 in 2019. Also during Sadler’s chairmanship, the Authority successfully lobbied for a change in state law to expand its allowable investment options. The new authorized investments are expected to improve the Authority’s ability to meet its spending policy goal of protecting an inflation-adjusted corpus while still meeting the charitable healthcare needs of Rockdale County. Sadler completed the maximum number of terms allowed with HARC (two three-year consecutive terms) on September 30, 2019, but continues to serve as a Chair Emeritus.
Rev. Sadler also is widely recognized for his involvement with the Rockdale County Board of Elections and Voter Registration, on which he has served since 2015. Chief Superior Court Judge David Irwin recently reappointed Sadler as the at-large member and chair of the three-member board. Since joining the board, Sadler has certified 11 elections in Rockdale County, led efforts to extend Early Voting Hours for Special Elections and Runoff Elections, which first occurred in 2015, and provided oversight for Rockdale being the only county in the state selected to pilot a new voting system in 2017.

Rev. Al Sadler, a lifelong Rockdale County resident, is the founder and senior pastor of Church of New Beginnings in Conyers, Georgia. A respected community leader, he has received multiple honors, including the City of Conyers’ Spirit Award and the A.R. “Gus” Barksdale Lifetime Achievement Award.
Pastor Sadler is dedicated to civic engagement and has provided and continues to provide leadership and service through numerous organizations, such as the Conyers-Rockdale Consolidation Committee, United Way of Rockdale County, Rockdale County Task Force Against Family Violence, Rockdale County Department of Family and Children Services, Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office, and Rockdale Citizens Progressive Club.
Rev. Sadler served on the Hospital Authority of Rockdale County (HARC) from October 2013 through September 2019—and in 2017 became the first African-American elected as chairman of the Authority’s nine-member Board of Trustees, which collectively manages HARC’s multi-million dollar endowment for its charitable healthcare grants program. Additionally, in 2018, Sadler successfully voted to relocate 11 of the 18 precincts from Rockdale County Public Schools out of concern for the safety and security of students. Also, in 2018, in a 2-1 vote, Sadler advocated for adding Sunday voting for the November 2018 General Election, which resulted in a high daily voter turnout. He also led the successful legislative push, in 2018, to increase the Board of Elections members’
stipend from $50 to $100—the first increase since establishment of the Board of Elections.
Pastor Sadler’s investment in the Rockdale County community also has included volunteer activity as a member of the Rockdale Hospital Board of Directors (1983-1989) and charter member of the City of Conyers Citizens’ Police Academy. In February 2008, Pastor Sadler was selected Chaplain for the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office and, in January 2009, was certified by The Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (POST) as a Chaplain. He’s also a 2008 graduate of the Georgia Association of Sheriff’s Mandate Chaplain School.
Employed by Rollins, Inc., Atlanta, Georgia from September 1980 to December 2007, Pastor Sadler is currently retired after working 35 years in the field of Information Technology Sadler is a graduate of
Control Data Institute and also received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Georgia State University, as well as a Masters of Pastoral Counseling from Andersonville Theology Seminary. In January 2012, Pastor Sadler received his Doctor of Divinity from Union Baptist Seminary.
He is a member of the historic Peek’s Chapel Baptist Church in Conyers, where he was licensed to preach in July 1981 and ordained in May 1982. While at Peek’s Chapel, Pastor Sadler has served as Sunday school teacher, secretary of the Board of Deacons, Financial Secretary of the church, member of the Trustee Board and the Building Committee. In 1984, Pastor Sadler was called to pastor Travelers Rest Baptist Church in Scottdale, Georgia, where he served until April 1990. He served as pastor of Second Shady Grove Baptist Church in Conyers, Georgia, from July 1990 to June 1995 and Millers Chapel Baptist Church, Conyers, Georgia in March 1997 through May 2006.
In June of 2006, Pastor Sadler organized the Church of New Beginnings in Conyers, Georgia; where he currently serves as Founder and Senior Pastor. In July of 2008, Pastor Sadler was ordained by The Fellowship of Vineyard Harvester Churches.
Pastor Sadler is married to the former Gloria Jean Jordan of Roanoke, Alabama. They are the proud parents of three children, Al, Jr., Felicia and Eddie (deceased); the grandparents of three granddaughters, Morgan, Chandler and Hannah, four grandsons Daylen, Chase, Cade, & Karlos Jr., the God Parent of Hope, and Grand God Parent of Tylen.
